The Magbikin Aetas are the local indigenous people of the Subic Bay Forest Zone. They have been displaced from much of their ancestral lands, and struggle to survive. With only the forest resources available to them, they have become a major source of wildlife for the pet trade. WIN is partnering with the Aetas, creating alternative livelihood opportunities that compensate them for protecting wildlife, rather than exploiting it, through funding by the Rufford Small Grants for Conservation. These projects contribute to improving their lives, while reducing the devastating impact of the wildlife pet trade on animals and the environment.
